Gary Gysin Joins Silver Spring Networks Executive Team as EVP of Worldwide Sales

Redwood City, CA – October 1, 2009 - Silver Spring Networks, a leading Smart Grid solutions provider, today announced the appointment of Gary Gysin to the role of Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales. Gary will be responsible for driving go-to-market strategies with a focus on the Company's international growth and expanding sales coverage across emerging Smart Grid markets. He will report directly to Silver Spring Networks Chairman, CEO and President, Scott Lang.

"Gary brings more than 20 years' experience delivering competitive market strategies for innovative software and hardware infrastructure products," said Scott. Most recently, Gary was an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at US Venture Partners focused on infrastructure opportunities in Smart Grid, cloud services and networking and storage. Previously, Gary was President and CEO of Asempra Technologies (a USVP company), the market leading instant recovery solution for Windows applications and data. He led the company from late-stage development through first revenue and guided the successful sale of the company to BakBone Software in mid-2009. Gary also served as Vice President of Sales and Service at McData Corporation, where he was responsible for setting and executing strategies that resulted in exponential worldwide revenue growth through the expansion of strategic partnerships, acquisitions, customer and channel relationships. He also held the role of Vice President of Software and General Manager Sanera/Nishan while at McData. Gary has also held a variety of executive leadership roles including Senior Vice President of products and business development at Volera, President and CEO of PGSoft and Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Crosswise Corporation, WorldTalk and Touch Communications.
