Network Infrastructure
Intelligent endpoints rely on the network infrastructure to relay critical data to the utility. The network technology includes Access Point and Relay interfaces to provide that interconnectivity.
Access Points (APs) provide the connection between the RF mesh network linking all the intelligent endpoints and the utility’s backhaul or WAN links. The APs support Ethernet ports or cellular modems to support utilities’ various backhaul technologies.
Relays extend the RF signal in spots where a meter isn’t located and an Access Point remains out of reach. Behaving much like repeaters in an Ethernet network, relays are easily deployed on pole tops or building floors to propagate the RF signal.
